Your daily commutes wouldn't be the same.
I take the LRT 5 times a week
It's my favourite way to get to college!
It's fast. It's cheap. And it gets me where I need to go.
Along the way, I've met a number of good and kind people. Though many choose to keep to themselves, you will occasionally come across the kind of people that will restore your faith humanity if you regularly take the train.
1. The ones who help you figure out your way
Public transport can be pretty daunting to a complete LRT newbie. But often enough, these people will offer to help you out. While many get irritated as you stumble to pick a station on the token machine, they will see your struggles and help you get where you need to go.
2. The ones who actually let passengers get out first
As you wait to board the LRT, you're told to let the passengers in the train step out before you step in. It's common courtesy. But an uncommon reality. It's extremely pleasing to see them wait patiently by the side of the train doors as people walk out.
3. The ones who give up their seat
Whether it's a pregnant woman, an elderly person or anyone with any form of disability, giving up your seat is always greatly appreciated by someone in need.
4. The ones who use earphones
Not everyone shares your taste in music and these guys realise that. They plug their earphones in whenever they listen to music.
5. The honest, observant ones who will tell you if you dropped something
It's no fun losing your personal belongings on the train! You'll be eternally grateful for that Good Samaritan who returned your stuff in the nick of time. <3
6. The ones who don't litter
If you need to throw something away, the general rule of thumb is just to keep it with you till you get off. It’s incredibly selfish to leave your trash behind!
7. The ones who have a good gauge of personal space when the train is PACKED
When the train is full of people, especially during peak hours, it’s hard to not invade on someone else’s personal space. However, these people will try to keep an appropriate distance from you, and even apologise if their bag is almost in your face!
8. The friendly ones you can start a conversation with
It's incredibly easy to start a conversation with people on the LRT (given the person is friendly!) And often enough, they will be more than willing to have a conversation with you.
9. The parents who make sure their kids behave
There's nothing worse than an out-of-control child running around the train. These parents will can ensure that their child behaves throughout the journey so as not to disturb the other passengers.
10. The ones who will actually wake you up so you don't miss your stop
Ahhh! There’s nothing like falling into deep, deep sleep on the train. The ones who ‘know’ you don’t mind walking up to you and tapping you on the shoulder before you miss your stop! Very thoughtful!
11. The ones who choose to be nice even after a long day at work
It’s understandable to be ‘on the edge’ after a long day of work. Thankfully, these people know how to keep their cool and still be nice to strangers.
