After announcing its arrival last year, the first-ever Tomica Brand Store in Southeast Asia has officially opened at Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur
And right inside it sits something even more special: the first permanent Tomica Factory outside Japan.
Located within Toys"R"Us, this new concept space lets you build your own Tomica car from scratch for RM45.90.
Instead of buying a pre-made model, visitors get to customise their car by selecting four key parts:
- Body
- Chassis
- Seats
- Windscreen
Once you've made your selections, the car is assembled on-site using a specialised machine with staff assistance.
The entire process is quick, usually taking around five minutes or less from selection to completion.
After that, your custom ride is tested, packaged, and handed over in a box for you to take home.
The KLCC outlet isn't just any flagship store
It marks a major milestone as the first Tomica Brand Store in Southeast Asia, the third overseas Tomica Brand Store outside Japan (after Shanghai and Beijing in China), and the only permanent Tomica Factory outside Japan.
Beyond the factory experience, the store itself is packed with over 2,000 diecast models, including exclusive releases available only at KLCC
According to Malay Mail, current KLCC exclusives include:
- Lamborghini Urus
- Lamborghini Veneno
- Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
The store is also designed as a shop-in-shop concept and brand experience hub, featuring themed areas like curated displays and collector zones that showcase Tomica's history and storytelling.
Since its launch, the brand has sold over one billion units worldwide, which roughly translates to one Tomica car sold every 1.8 seconds.
Its popularity in Japan has even inspired TV and anime spin-offs over the years, including Tomica Hero: Rescue Force and later series like Drive Head and Earth Granner.
