[PHOTOS] Bubble Tea Pearls Are Sparking A New Food Trend In Cafés And Bakeries
This might just be the next "pineapple on pizza" debate.
Regardless of where you stand, the next thing we're gonna show you is probably gonna be as polarising as the "pineapple on pizza" debate.
Behold - bubble tea pearls on pizza.
Imagine that - chewy tapioca balls on chewy pizza dough, topped with melted cheese. Interesting flavours, we suppose.
It would seem that these tapioca pearls have gone beyond bubble tea toppings, as bakeries and street food vendors in Taiwan are putting them on or baking them into pastries!
Yep, those are bubble tea pearls baked into Portuguese egg tarts.
Popular Taiwanese food Instagrammer @nini_food0822 has also been to several street food vendors who've incorporated tapioca pearls and milk tea flavours into pancake-like snacks.
Some cafés and bakeries have also taken to slathering French toasts and fluffy pancakes with bubble tea pearls. To be fair, they look quite pretty... :p
... Though we're not too sure about all the chewing we'd have to do. Also, this pancake concoction makes us just a little uncomfortable...
On the other hand, we wouldn't mind trying out these milky cold desserts. :p
