Gamtan Meat Shop is opening yet another outlet, and this time, it'll be in Sri Petaling
The Korean barbecue restaurant, which currently has outlets in Sri Hartamas and Jalan Imbi, is opening its third Malaysian outlet in Sri Petaling on 27 August 2026, less than 12 months after it first expanded into Malaysia.
For the unfamiliar, Gamtan started in Telok Ayer, Singapore, before making its way to KL
Founded by a Korean butcher and chef duo with more than 15 years of experience, Gamtan is known for its hand-trimmed meat, with different cuts grilled and served one at a time.
Its Butcher's Cut is a 300g set priced at RM98, featuring three pork cuts.
The staff grill each cut at the table and recommend different pairings, from K-ssamjang and salted squid to Maldon salt and wasabi.
There's even one paired with tonkatsu sauce and crispy breadcrumbs.
We previously tried the steak sotbap at its Sri Hartamas outlet, and the buttery, silky rice was one of our favourite things on the table
The truffle potato pancake is also a good one to share, especially if you like your pancakes crispy around the edges.
There are also Korean stews, handmade sujebi, noodles, ramyeon and other dishes to round out the meal.
One thing we particularly liked was the banchan, which is made fresh every morning and is refillable.
While it's not uncommon for some banchan to stand out more than others, we found the ones at Gamtan were consistently fresh and tasty.

Walk-ins are welcome, while reservations are available for groups of six or more.
