The MICHELIN Guide has unveiled its 2027 edition for Kuala Lumpur and Penang, welcoming 17 new entries to its selection: one new MICHELIN-Starred restaurant, 12 MICHELIN Selected establishments, and four new Bib Gourmand eateries
Announced today, 4 November, the fifth edition features 159 recognised establishments, comprising one two-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant, nine one-MICHELIN-Starred restaurants, 89 MICHELIN Selected establishments, and 60 Bib Gourmand eateries.
MICHELIN Stars are awarded for exceptional cuisine, with three stars being the highest distinction. MICHELIN Selected recognises restaurants for consistently high-quality cuisine, while Bib Gourmand eateries serve memorable meals at great value, often beloved neighbourhood or street food spots.
"Malaysia's dining scene is distinguished by the breadth of its culinary traditions and the different ways chefs interpret them.
"This year's selection reflects the continued importance of local favourites, alongside restaurants that bring together Malaysian ingredients, regional flavours, and international techniques," said MICHELIN Guide international director Gwendal Poullennec.

Dewakan retains its two MICHELIN Stars
Known for its use of indigenous ingredients and interpretations of Malaysian flavours, Dewakan, helmed by chef Darren Teoh, retains its two MICHELIN Stars for the fifth consecutive year.

According to the MICHELIN Guide, Potager is a French fine-dining restaurant located in Bamboo Hills, Kuala Lumpur, helmed by Fukuoka-born chef Masashi Horiuchi.
He spent years working in Europe before opening the establishment in Malaysia, where he showcases classic French cooking techniques.
Potager joins eight other one-MICHELIN-Starred restaurants in Malaysia: Akar, Beta, Chim by Chef Noom, DC. by Darren Chin, Molina, and Terra Dining in Kuala Lumpur, as well as Au Jardin and Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery in Penang.
