From a small street stall that initially made just RM20 a day in profit to a fast-growing food brand with more than 180 locations, Muiz Hot Chicken has become one of Malaysia's rising local fast-food chains

The business has recorded more than RM45 million in cumulative sales and has sold an estimated 1.14 million pieces of fried chicken nationwide.

Muiz Hot Chicken was founded by Muhamad Muizzuddin Remle, 33, who started selling fried chicken in Parit Raja, Muar, Johor, in 2013, reported Bernama.

According to the company's official website, he began the business on 18 February 2013, just three days after his 20th birthday.

Before starting out on his own, Muizzuddin worked at his aunt's stall as a drinks attendant. He was later entrusted to manage the fried chicken station, where he learned to use her recipe.

He eventually opened a street food stall and operated under the name Ayam Goreng Rangup before rebranding it as Muiz Hot Chicken. He spent eight months refining his own spice mix and recipe for his new venture.

Muiz Hot Chicken now operates through a mix of roadside stalls, food trucks, R&R kiosks, and dine-in restaurants

This flexible model reflects Malaysia's unique food culture, allowing the brand to reach customers in different locations while supporting small entrepreneurs through its franchise network.

The company currently has five restaurant outlets and more than 180 stalls, with plans to open a sixth restaurant in Sungai Merab, Bangi, complete with a drive-through facility.

Muizzuddin now hopes to bring Muiz Hot Chicken beyond Malaysia by expanding into Brunei and Singapore.

"The first step in our plan is to attend events such as food festivals in both countries this year to see how the market and reception for Muiz Hot Chicken will fare," he told Bernama.

Customers can also choose from several sides, including regular fries, spiral fries, and cheesey wedges.

Muizzuddin's efforts have earned him the Food and Beverage Industry Entrepreneur Icon Award from MARA, as well as the Youth Entrepreneur Excellent Award from the Halal Development Corporation.
