There's a Japanese onsen spa located in Bandar Puteri Puchong that offers the perfect short getaway treat for couples
Be it with your partner, sister, or best friend, Hanami Wellness Centre is the place to go and unwind after a long week at work.
The interior is bright, clean, and very welcoming.
And as soon as you walk through the door, the quiet ambiance will instantly put you in a relaxed mood.
The staff will greet you with some tea and give you a form to let you personalise your massage and facial.
On the form, you can indicate if you have any problem areas on your face that you would like the facial therapist to avoid, and the level of pressure and areas you'd prefer the masseuse to focus on.
We went in for their best-selling 'Couple's Retreat' package meant for two, which includes a 40-minute onsen session, one-hour full body massage, and 40-minute face spa.
We were guided to one of their onsen rooms, which had stone baths, instead of the usual wooden tubs offered in Malaysia
They provided light refreshments and bath robes to change into, and gave us instructions on how best to enjoy the spa, which was definitely very calming.
At Hanami, we learnt that they add essential oils and change the bath temperature according to the four seasons in Japan. As it is currently summer, the water was about 38°C to 40°C, whereas if it was winter, the temperature would be from 40°C to 42°C.
The staff said we would know our session was up when the light decor on the wall goes from sunrise to sunset, indicating that we should start drying up for the massage.
After the spa, we were asked to sit at a waiting room to cool down before we were guided to their couple massage rooms
The staff explained that the beds are heated — only ever so slightly — and begins at your feet and slowly moves up. The warmth made for the perfect condition to relax in the pleasantly air-conditioned room.
The massage was also superb. I chose 'Medium' pressure, and appreciated that the masseuse asked if she was pressing too hard or too lightly.
Towards the end of the massage, another therapist started the face spa, which is a very gentle and refreshing facial (with no extractions!) that is guaranteed to leave you sleeping.
Overall, it was a great place to unwind with a calm ambiance, friendly staff, and good service
The 'Couple's Retreat' package is priced at RM590 for two.
They also offer the services separately, along with other treatments such as full body scrub, hot stone massage, and reflexology.
