And it is, until the lights go out and everyone suddenly wants to turn back.

So, if you're planning to brave your first haunted house together, here are some things to keep in mind before you find yourself running in the opposite direction from your friends.

First things first, always bring the right group of friends

Every friend group has the brave one, the loud one, and the one who says they are not scared before screaming five seconds in.

Choose your squad wisely because you are going to need each other once the scares start.

After all, there is a big difference between going through a haunted house with friends who will have your back and friends who will happily use you as human bait.

Once you're there, be sure to stick together at all times

It might sound obvious, but the last thing you want is for your group to scatter when the scares start coming from unexpected directions.

Keep your squad together as you make your way through the haunted house.

Apart from making the experience less intimidating, you will also have someone to laugh with once you realise everyone screamed at the exact same time.

When you're inside, just accept the fact that you'll scream, and that's perfectly normal

There is no shame in screaming when something suddenly appears in front of you.

You might even jump, grab your friend's arm, or briefly question every decision that led you there. Just remember that it's all part of the experience.

At the end of the day, a haunted house is more fun when you experience it with people who can laugh, scream, and panic alongside you

You might forget exactly which scare got you, but you will probably remember the friend who screamed first, the one who refused to walk in front, and the moment everyone started running all at once.

If you think your squad has what it takes, put your survival skills to the test at Nights Of Fright 12

That's right, the 'Festival of Fear' is returning to Sunway Lagoon from 25 September to 7 November.

Sunway Theme Parks General Manager of Business and Marketing Development Michelle Soong said that this year's theme is 'APE-OCALYPSE'.

"We're taking 2 of the most iconic movie franchises in history, Mad Max, and Planet Of The Apes," she said, highlighting a fresh new theme set in a post-apocalyptic world where apes have taken control and humans are hunted, imprisoned, and used for entertainment.

And if you are wondering where to start once you arrive, there is plenty to explore, with haunted houses, a haunted theatre, scare zones, and many thrill rides making up this year's experience

Lynton Harris, Chairman and Global Creative Director of The Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company, highlighted a few attractions that stood out to him.

"Yokai Road is fantastic and really interesting for its Japanese mythology theme. Return to Silent Hill also touches the Hollywood vibe, iconic horror franchise.

"Little Shop Horrors, which is a manga comic that came to life," he said.

It goes without saying that the attractions take you through a variety of different worlds where you get to experience and find the scariest one for yourself.

And if you are still wondering whether there is a secret to surviving your first Nights Of Fright, the team has one last piece of advice

Michelle shared her number one tip to survive your first Nights Of Fright.

"Come in with an open heart and get ready to have a lot of fun," she shared.

Lynton also shared some advice for newcomers.

"Come with friends. When you see your friends get scared, you laugh and when you get scared, you laugh because they got you.

"My theory is that humour is actually our number one asset," he said.

Now all that is left is to find out which one of your friends will actually make it through without abandoning the group.

So, whatchu waiting for? Gather your friends and experience Nights Of Frights 12 now at Sunway Lagoon!

The 'Festival of Fear' runs from 25 September to 7 November, 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
