KL-Based Baker Makes Himalaya Birkin Bag Cakes That Look Just Like The Real Thing
It won't cost you RM1.51 million either.
At a whopping RM350,000 to RM1.51 million per pop, it's highly unlikely that any of us 99 percenters would ever lay a finger on the so-called Holy Grail of handbags - the Hermès Himalaya Birkin Bag
Crafted from "almost albino" Nilo crocodile hide, the Hermès Himalaya Birkin Bag is produced in very limited numbers and are considered one of the rarest Birkins in existence.
In fact, the Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Diamond Birkin 30 - designed with 242 diamonds on its 18-karat gold hardware - currently holds the record for being the most expensive handbag to have been sold in an auction at HKD2.98 million (RM1.51 million).
That's enough money to buy a house at a prime location, folks.
But fret not. In light of recent attention on Hermès Birkins, a local baker has created the next best thing - a hyper realistic Himalaya Birkin cake.
Sure, you can't cart it around to show it off to your friends... but at least you can eat it. :p
From its much-raved-about texture and shading to the palladium hardware and iconic padlock ornament, they've pretty much nailed the bag's details down to a T!
In case you're wondering, there are no jewellery housed within the cake. It's simply made of plain ol' sponge and chocolate ganache, while the exterior is shaped from fondant.
The cake is made by KL-based baker and cake artist Liew Man Kwan, who runs PassioNate Cakes and specialises in making customised three-dimensional sculpted cakes
