This marks a significant event in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. The three-day expo is organised by the Malaysia Guangdong Chamber of Commerce (MGCC) and hosted by JMM Exhibition.

It aims to enhance bilateral trade by providing a direct platform for Malaysian businesses and consumers to engage with leading Chinese manufacturers.

Ellison Yang, founder of JMM Holding, highlighted the significant progress in Malaysia-China trade relations

"2024 marks a golden milestone in Malaysia-China relations. In the first half of this year, bilateral trade reached $100.232 billion (RM434.56 billion), reflecting a 10.6% increase from the previous year and underscoring the deepening ties and vast potential of the partnership.

"China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, and the recent visa-free policy has further boosted cultural and commercial exchanges between our nations," shared Yang.

The expo will feature over 200 Chinese brands and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across various sectors

These include new energy products like solar photovoltaics, energy storage, and charging piles, as well as lighting, domestic appliances, and smart home products.

Supported by organisations including the Malaysia-China Friendship Association (PPMC), Malaysia Wholesalers Association (PPM), Junior Chamber International Kuala Lumpur (JCI), and SOMO Group, the event promises a comprehensive sourcing experience. It is designed for local businesses aiming to secure bulk orders and for retail consumers interested in exploring a diverse range of products.

Yang also emphasised the expo's role in facilitating direct connections between Malaysian businesses and Chinese manufacturers

"This expo will focus on advanced technologies in China's electronics sector, particularly on how new energy — such as solar PV, energy storage, and charging piles — are accelerating the green transition of electronic products, including lighting and domestic appliances," said Yang.

The direct access to Chinese suppliers is expected to enhance profitability for local businesses.

Malaysia's strategic location, multilingual capabilities, and cultural diversity make it an ideal gateway for Chinese companies entering the Southeast Asian market

"With the production expertise and competitive pricing of Chinese businesses, this collaboration will significantly boost market penetration across ASEAN," Yang added.

The inaugural event is projected to attract over 15,000 visitors and generate RM60 million in trade transactions

Open to all business owners and consumers, the 2024 Malaysia E-Commerce Product Selection Expo offers a unique glimpse into the future of Malaysia-China trade.

The event is free of charge, inviting participants to explore new business opportunities and experience the evolving landscape of bilateral trade.
