Netflix Boss, Malaysian-Born American Among Top 10 Most Paid Male CEOs Of 2023
In contrast, the highest-paid woman in 2023 still fell far short of the lowest-paid man on the list.
2023 was a good year for male chief executives.
The median total compensation for male CEOs of S&P 500 companies jumped nearly 13% last year to USD16.3 million, according to data.
That marks a significant jump from the modest 0.9% rise in 2022, according to executive data firm Equilar.
It said that stock awards made up approximately 70% of total compensation last year.
An interesting aspect of the data released by Equilar is that the highest-paid CEO, who was awarded a nine-figure compensation package totalling USD161.8 million, is a Malaysian-born Chinese-American.
Another interesting fact that emerged from the data is that the highest-paid female CEO in 2023, with a total pay of USD30.3 million, was still nowhere near the lowest-paid man on the list, at USD37.6 million.
