PSA: The Most Important Safety Tip You Should Remember Before Entering An E-Hailing Ride
Always check this before you get into the car.
E-hailing rides have made life extremely convenient. Gone are the days where we have to wait around for a taxi that isn't carrying any passengers to show up.
With that said though, it can be dangerous, especially if you're travelling alone or if it's the middle of the night.
There have been cases in the past where passengers have been allegedly abducted or assaulted, and without any other witnesses around, it can be difficult to prove a case.
If you're ever booking an e-hailing ride, take note of this safety tip that could save you from a potentially dangerous situation
A TikTok page by John Duza, who shares self-defence and survival tips, recently posted a video advising passengers to always remember to do this one thing.
Before entering a stranger's car, he says to check that the child-proof lock is not activated.
For most cars, the child-proof switch is located on the side of the rear door and is put there to prevent children from accidentally opening the door while the car is moving.
If this switch is activated before you enter the car, he explains that you will be trapped and unable to open the door while inside
Even if you try to scroll down the window, it might not budge as the driver could lock it from his end, and you may end up having to fight your way out instead.
