The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) marked World Savings Day today by encouraging families to save for their children's education

Held at Alamanda Shopping Centre, Putrajaya, the celebration on 31 October coincided with the closing ceremony of Bulan Menabung Simpan SSPN (BMS) 2026.
PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim officiated the event, which highlighted the importance of making education savings a regular habit.
Now in its ninth year, BMS has been held annually since 2018 to encourage families to plan early for their children's higher education.
Families took part in competitions, games, and activities throughout the campaign

Activities included colouring and fancy dress competitions, a talent contest, memory challenges, and PTPTN's first-ever Simpan SSPN choir competition.
Visitors who made Simpan SSPN deposits at PTPTN counters also had the opportunity to receive special BMS edition money boxes and exclusive souvenirs.
Today's ceremony saw prizes presented to the choir competition winners, alongside certificates of appreciation for the campaign's strategic partners.

The campaign surpassed its RM250 million deposit target before its conclusion
According to Norliza, Simpan SSPN deposits collected during the campaign reached RM267.7 million from 25 September until 29 October 2026, exceeding its RM250 million target.
She said the response reflected more parents taking early steps to save for their children's education.
This year's World Savings Day theme, 'AI advises, Human decides', highlighted how artificial intelligence can support financial planning, while saving still requires individual awareness, discipline, and commitment.
Simpan SSPN offers several benefits to help Malaysians build their education savings, including:
- Income tax relief of up to RM8,000 a year on eligible savings
- Takaful protection for depositors, subject to eligibility and applicable terms
- A matching grant of up to RM10,000 per eligible family
- Competitive dividends
- Shariah compliance and government-guaranteed savings

PTPTN is also encouraging saving through promotions such as the Simpan SSPN 2026 prize draw campaign, which offers prizes worth nearly RM1.9 million for 1,060 winners.
