Police are currently conducting a manhunt for three suspects who were seen robbing a jewellery shop at SkyAvenue in Genting Highlands yesterday, 17 August
According to Berita Harian, acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said preliminary investigations found that the stolen jewellery and gold bars were worth nearly RM1.7 million.
The heist reportedly lasted barely two minutes at around 11.40am, with a viral three-second video capturing the suspects fleeing on foot through the mall after the robbery.
The suspects were seen wearing masks, caps, and dark clothing. One of them was also seen struggling with a large bag that appeared to be made of polypropylene as he fled.
Photos circulating on social media captured the aftermath of the robbery, showing that the shop had been ransacked. One of the glass display panels above a cupboard had been smashed, while the jewellery inside had been taken.
Azry said the suspects were carrying an axe and crowbar during the heist.

However, CCTV footage indicated that the getaway vehicle had likely passed through the checkpoints before the roadblocks were fully set up, reported the New Straits Times.
Viral photos and videos on Facebook showed roads leading down from the hilly holiday destination heavily congested as police carried out the operation. The roadblocks reportedly remained in place from noon until evening following the robbery.
The ongoing manhunt involves the Criminal Investigation Departments (CIDs) of Bukit Aman, Pahang, and Bentong.
Police are expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
