Helping B40 Microenterprises & 3 Other Inspiring Ways S P Setia Is Spreading Good Cheer
Through their #Setia4Malaysia campaign, the property developer wants to give back to the community and uplift the Malaysian spirit.
To uplift the Malaysian spirit and spread some good cheer during the pandemic, property developer S P Setia recently kickstarted their #Setia4Malaysia campaign
In line with S P Setia's sustainability journey, the campaign encompasses four key initiatives centred on corporate social responsibility, all with the aim of highlighting the importance of kindness, supporting communities in need, and engaging Team Setia at home.
1. Through the Setia PPV Heroes initiative, tokens of gratitude were delivered to frontliners and vaccination centre (PPV) volunteers
To facilitate the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme and help the nation reach herd immunity, five S P Setia event venues across the nation were appointed as PPVs, with four being mega PPVs.
The central region PPVs were Setia EcoHill Club 360 in Semenyih, Setia Eco Templer Clubhouse in Rawang, and Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam. Meanwhile, in Penang, the Setia SPICE Arena and Setia SPICE Convention Centre were used as PPVs.
To show gratitude towards the dedicated frontliners and volunteers, who have sacrificed their time to serve the community, S P Setia Foundation kickstarted the Setia PPV Heroes initiative back in August.
Through this, servings of savoury and sweet Malaysian snacks and desserts were distributed to the frontliners and volunteers. More than 2,300 servings were given to approximately 1,060 people who worked at the central region PPVs, while in Penang, about 4,000 servings were given to approximately 800 PPV staff.
What makes these snack packs extra special is that they were purchased from F&B microenterprises from the B40 community, whose source of income was affected by the prolonged lockdown.
2. In collaboration with EdgeProp Malaysia, S P Setia provided financial support to B40 F&B microenterprises that have been struggling to keep their businesses afloat
Collaborating with EdgeProp Malaysia, S P Setia Berhad initiated a Caring Community Campaign themed 'Alongside our B40s'.
Over a period of 13 days in August, Malaysians were able to nominate F&B B40 microenterprises that needed a helping hand. From a total of more than 130 nominations, 25 microenterprises in Klang Valley and Penang were selected.
Not only did each of them receive RM500 to upgrade their businesses, S P Setia Berhad committed to continue purchasing food from them for six months, to be donated to nearby underprivileged homes.
"I am truly grateful to receive the sponsorship as it has been a tough time for all businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, I can now upgrade my catering business by purchasing more raw ingredients, materials, and kitchen utensils. I also plan to share the support I receive from this sponsorship by preparing meals for the communities in need here," shared Siti Noor Hafizah binti Suhaili, who runs one of the shortlisted microenterprises in Penang.
3. On Hari Kebangsaan, they launched their very first virtual run to promote health and unity during the MCO
When the MCO and travel restrictions were still in place, Malaysians found it challenging to keep their spirits up and find ways to stay active at home. To promote a healthier and more united Malaysia during this time, S P Setia launched the #Setia4Malaysia Unity Run on Hari Kebangsaan.
Receiving an overwhelming response, tickets for the unity run were sold out within the first two weeks, and more than 1,500 running enthusiasts from across the nation participated in the national-themed run.
From 16 September to 16 October, runners completed an accumulated 5km or 21km run each within their own neighbourhoods, achieving a total distance of almost 47,000km by the end of the end of the event.
4. To spread the love for Malaysian food and cheer up their staff, S P Setia hosted the Truly Malaysian Masterchef cooking activity
During the Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day period, S P Setia decided to spread some festive cheer by engaging their staff members remotely.
Through the Truly Malaysian Masterchef cooking actitivity, Team Setia members across the nation were able to whip up yummy Malaysian desserts at home. Participants were provided with a mystery cooking kit, filled with all the necessary ingredients and recipes to prepare a well-loved Malaysian dessert.
With about 120 staff members joining in, everyone enjoyed trying their hand at making apam kukus, sago gula melaka, coconut candy, or tang yuan with their loved ones at home.
More than a property developer, S P Setia hopes to be able to continue giving back to the community and spreading cheer to Malaysians through their various initiatives.
