Sarawak has officially opened its first interactive science centre in Kuching, giving students, families, and visitors a new place to discover science through immersive, hands-on experiences

According to local reports, the Sarawak Science Centre Interactive Experience (SSCiEX) officially opened on 29 July in Petra Jaya, Kuching.

The 7,500sqm facility was developed by the Sarawak government under its Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).

The five-storey science centre features 22 permanent galleries, over 400 interactive exhibits, five laboratories, and two Maker Spaces designed for visitors to explore

According to its official website, the galleries cover topics such as physics, engineering, earth science, biology, and technology.

Among the attractions are an animatronic dinosaur gallery, a water play zone, and interactive exhibits that allow visitors to explore concepts involving forces, light, and sound.

The centre said it aims to connect globally recognised science education with Sarawak's unique environment and culture, incorporating elements inspired by the state's rainforests, rivers, and local communities.
