This Hotel In Sekinchan Bears Striking Resemblance To A Popular Indonesian Film
Don't worry, the hotel doesn't have a secret 14th floor.
If you're familiar with the Indonesian cult-based horror movie Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022), this hotel in Sekinchan, Selangor should be on your bucket list
The industrial-themed hotel is a singular building surrounded by vast paddy fields as far as the eye can see, similar to the flat which the horror movie takes place in.
But don't worry, the hotel is far less scary.
Padi Sentral is a refurbished swiftlet house located in Pekan Sekinchan, Sekinchan, Selangor. Its contemporary, grey concrete exterior contrasts beautifully with the lush green paddy fields, making it a perfect spot for your Instagram feed.
The actual building used in Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022), located in East Jakarta, is allegedly haunted
Following the popularity of the movie, the apartment, which is located in the Pulo Gadung area of East Jakarta, was at one point open for fans to visit. However, it was closed soon after due to safety reasons.
According to the caretaker, levels beginning from the seventh floor of the apartment complex were sealed off, even during filming. Rumour has it that the floor was haunted by a spirit of a woman mourning the loss of her kidnapped daughter.
Actresses Tara Basro and Ratu Felisha, who play Rini Suwono and Tari, respectively, as well as the production crew, were also said to have been disturbed by the unseen during the shooting of the film.
The building, constructed in 2007 as a government housing project, was never completed. Reasons for its abandoned construction are unknown to date. Currently, it serves as a parking lot and storage hub for merchants and visitors of the Sumber Arta market nearby.
The hotel in Sekinchan has been compared to the haunted apartment from the movie numerous times
The comparison between Padi Sentral and the flat from Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022) has happened quite often following postings from visitors who captured the gorgeous interior of the homestay and views from rooms and the rooftop deck.
However, contrary to the creepy abandoned apartment complex in Indonesia, Padi Sentral in Sekinchan is way more relaxing and inviting
The homestay combines chic, modern aesthetics with a rustic, peaceful environment.
Sleek interiors coupled with a picturesque view of the paddy fields make for a lovely getaway.
The homestay has rooms that can accommodate up to four people — and is great for families and small group staycations. Room prices range from RM140 to RM220 per night.
Not to mention a gorgeous rooftop space overlooking the paddy fields, perfect for 'healing' purposes.
Padi Sentral is close to attractions such as MSekin Wonderland, Sekinchan Paddy Gallery, Ah Ma House, and Redang Beach.
Satisfying your hunger is ever so convenient as the homestay is near N16 Bus Café, Abah Bonda Ikan Bakar, and Mango King. For more food recommendations around Sekinchan, read more here.
