BookXcess is rolling out a Singles Sale where selected 'Single Books' are going for 50% off, but there's a twist that might expose your emotional baggage in public
From 25 May until 7 June 2026, shoppers can snag last-copy books for as low as RM9 at BookXcess outlets nationwide and online.
And being single is (kind of) the price of admission.
A 'Single Book' simply means there's only one last copy left in stock
No restocks. No twins. No backup plan. Just one lonely book sitting on the shelf, waiting for its final chance at love. Aw.
But these aren't unwanted leftovers. They are solid titles people actually snapped up first, leaving behind the last survivor.
You'll be able to find everything from emotional heavy-hitters like Out of My Mind and All the Light We Cannot See, to drama-packed reads like Tell Me Lies, classics such as The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and blockbuster fantasy like The Battle of the Labyrinth from the Percy Jackson series.
There's also self-help favourites like You Are a Badass and Trillion Dollar Coach, plus children's books, cult favourites, and random hidden gems.
To enjoy the sale, BookXcess is asking for one thing: proof that you truly are single
And before you panic, they're not being too strict about it. In fact, the definition of "proof" is… very flexible.
You can try things like:
- Showing your Instagram feed with zero couple photos
- Getting your best friend or mum to vouch for your single status
- Pulling out breakup texts as evidence
- Displaying your most emotionally unstable Spotify playlist
- Showing your dating app profile in its natural habitat
- Or even breaking up (and immediately making up) at the cashier counter for dramatic effect
"The more tragic, the better," the company wrote.
The Singles Sale will run from 25 May to 7 June at all BookXcess outlets nationwide, plus online via their website, TikTok Shop and Shopee
