This Hari Kebangsaan & Malaysia Day Ad Reminds Us To Love & Protect Our Country's Beauty
After all, it is our duty to care for our country. <3
When asked to describe Malaysia, the first thing that comes to find for many of us is our food and cultural diversity
But there's one more thing that our country is especially well-known for — nature! From tropical rainforests to beautiful islands, our country's natural beauty truly makes it a highlight of Southeast Asia.
Having said that, there are times we may have taken our nature for granted. That's why this year, Sunway wants to remind us to appreciate our nature through their Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day video, titled Malaysia Lestari.
Watch the full video below:
As we take a glimpse into Malaysia's beauty, there's no denying that our nature adds life, colour, identity, and most importantly, harmony to our country
Did you know that most of our flora and fauna are special only to Malaysia?
That's not all. Malaysia is home to Taman Negara — one of the oldest rainforests in the world — as well as numerous breathtaking islands with an abundance of marine life, white sand beaches, and gorgeous coral reefs. Our country truly lives up to its tagline, "Malaysia, Truly Asia" lah!
But amidst its beauty, our country's resources are often neglected or harmed as a result of deforestation, river pollution, and even wildlife trading :(
From throwing rubbish in rivers and streets to continuously using plastics and paper, many of us take our country's resources for granted. While you may think that one person's actions may not be that detrimental, it's when everyone conforms to these bad habits that would end up posing a significant threat to our country's aim of becoming a more sustainable nation.
That's why as Malaysians, all of us need to play a part in putting an end to these bad habits, and work together to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious
It's time to change our mindset! Even simple acts like using environmentally friendly products to tapao food and drinks, planting trees, and joining community cleanups can do wonders in preserving our nature. As the old saying goes, sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit.
After all, Malaysia is our home, and it is our duty to care for our country. <3
Sunway strongly advocates for sustainability. In fact, the founding of Sunway Group is based on the concept of sustainable development.
As a leading conglomerate in Malaysia, Sunway takes pride in paving the way to sustainability in all aspects, from education to construction, theme parks, hospitality, and medicine.
Here's a look at some of the things Sunway is doing:
- Refurbish and build 50 libraries for underserved communities by its 50th anniversary in 2024.
- Establish EV charging stations at Sunway developments nationwide through partnerships with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Gentari, and EV Connection (EVC).
- Converted more than 14,000 kilogrammes of used cooking oil from residents and tenants of Sunway City Kuala Lumpur into biofuel.
- Establish Sunway XFarms, KL's largest urban vertical farm, to address food security in Malaysia.
- Constructed a state-of-the-art water treatment facility to address water security in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur and ease pressure on the public supply system.
- Sunway City Kuala Lumpur houses the Asia headquarters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN) at Sunway University, which is one of three such centers in the world coordinating continent-wide sustainability initiatives. This ranks Sunway City Kuala Lumpur alongside New York City, which oversees the United States, as well as Paris, which oversees Europe and Africa.
- The first in Malaysia, and among the first in Asia, to implement an internal carbon pricing framework into its businesses, a robust carbon reduction strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
This patriotic season, let us all be reminded that we should love and care for our nation at all times. Sunway wants to take this opportunity to wish all Malaysians a Selamat Hari Kebangsaan and Happy Malaysia Day! <3
