The Vocket Takes A Stand Against Bullying With Its 'Jadi Buddy, Bukan Buli' Campaign
The campaign will include a range of informative and engaging content.
Bullying has become a growing concern in Malaysia, not just in schools but also online
Social media is flooded with heartbreaking stories of bullying, with some victims facing extreme distress, even to the point of self-harm.
Recent reports highlight the seriousness of the issue.
According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2022, one in five Malaysian teenagers has engaged in cyberbullying. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry reported a sharp rise in school bullying cases — 4,994 cases recorded by October 2023, a significant jump from 3,887 in 2022 and just 326 in 2021.
In response to this crisis, lifestyle platform The Vocket has launched the 'Jadi Buddy, Bukan Buli' campaign, creating a safe space for victims to share their experiences anonymously and raising awareness about the harmful effects of bullying
"One of the main initiatives of this campaign is a confidential sharing box accessible on the official website, where victims can share their experiences without disclosing their identities," said Aiman Nazirmuddin, the campaign manager for 'Jadi Buddy, Bukan Buli'.
"The word 'buddy' itself means friend. So, we are ready to be your friend to listen to your stories," he added.
The campaign will include a range of informative and engaging content:
- Voccast Series on YouTube: Featuring discussions with experts and real-life bullying survivors
- Live Talk Sessions: Professionals and survivors share insights on bullying and mental health
- Vocket Tanya Random: A social media series capturing public opinions on bullying
- Articles & Resources: Available on The Vocket's website to spread awareness
To provide real psychological support, The Vocket has teamed up with Pusat Pakar Psikologi Jiwadamai and NGO Empati, two organisations dedicated to mental health and youth empowerment
"It is a small but significant step in supporting bullying victims and fostering a more empathetic and safe environment for everyone," Aiman shared.
As key collaborators, Pusat Pakar Psikologi Jiwadamai and NGO Empati will play a vital role in providing psychological support and educating the public about the importance of understanding the effects of bullying on victims.
"At Pusat Pakar Psikologi Jiwadamai, we provide consultation and therapy services for various mental health issues, including helping individuals who are under stress due to bullying. These individuals range from teenagers to adults. They are not only bullied physically but also mentally," said Sofiah Atiqah, a clinical psychologist from Pusat Pakar Psikologi Jiwadamai.
Meanwhile, NGO Empati sees the 'Jadi Buddy, Bukan Buli' campaign as aligning with their mission to build a dedicated support system for young people in Malaysia.
"We hope that through this collaboration, the voices of bullying victims will continue to be heard, and we can take action to encourage more people to help this group," said Syahida Zulkarnain, founder of NGO Empati.
