No cash? No problem.

At first glance, the Funmaii outlet in Bandar Puteri, Puchong looks like a typical convenience store with shelves and fridges stocked with food and drink. Except... there is no cashier in sight.

Funmaii is the latest establishment to fully embrace the cashless payment system. It recently opened an outlet in Puchong, the second since opening for business at Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara in January this year.

Funmaii has created a dedicated e-wallet app for both iOS and Android, allowing customers to pay for goods with ease and convenience

The retail experience is based entirely on the self-service concept – customers pick up what they want and proceed to the counter to scan their items before making payment.

Apart from e-wallet functions, the app can be used to track expenses and spending habits as well as redeem rewards in the form of vouchers and special discounts.

Payments can be also made through credit or debit card.

Fret not if self-checkout seems daunting to you as there will still be retail assistants to help with finding items or how the system works

Funmaii outlets offer daily basic necessities that customers would expect to find at most convenience stores, plus a selection of imported snacks from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand

There will be three types of Funmaii stores namely Basic, Signature, and Concept

Basic is basically like most convenience stores with a small seating area while Signature outlets come with a special space for small events. Lastly, Concept stores will see partnerships with other brands and feature products ranging from beauty to coffee bars.

Besides that, SoyaCincau reported that Funmaii also plans to install 10,000 vending machines in major shopping malls around Malaysia within the next three years.
