TikTok Shop and the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) have launched a joint initiative aimed at reducing costs for both consumers and local businesses.

The initiative was launched during Pesta #JomLokal and officiated by KPDN Minister YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

As part of the initiative, TikTok Shop has expanded its 0% commission programme to five new essential goods sub-categories

The expansion brings the total to 56 eligible categories. The new categories include milk, powdered milk, yogurt, fermented dairy products, and more. Commission fees across 39 other essential goods sub-categories have also been reduced by around 0.5 to 9.1 percentage points.

To further support sellers, TikTok Shop is also providing a RM2 rebate per order, helping reduce nationwide shipping costs.

Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at TikTok Shop Malaysia, said the initiative is designed to ease pressure across the ecosystem.

"We believe in leveraging our e-commerce ecosystem to create meaningful socioeconomic impact that will have a positive ripple effect across the value chain. By launching this cost-of-living relief, TikTok Shop has invested over RM180 million directly in the local communities we serve.

"It will help absorb some of the operational costs of local businesses and alleviate the cost of living for Malaysian households, while also stimulating income opportunities for employees of local MSMEs, logistics frontliners, agency partners, and affiliate creators," she said.

KPDN added that the initiative aligns with efforts to ensure economic growth benefits everyday Malaysians

YB Datuk Armizan bin Mohd Ali, Minister of KPDN, said "The government remains committed to ensuring economic growth translates into tangible benefits for the rakyat, particularly through efforts that strengthen affordability, support entrepreneurship, and create inclusive opportunities. We welcome this proactive collaboration by TikTok Shop to help alleviate Malaysians' cost of living and stimulate domestic trade," said Armizan.

He added that digital platforms play an important role in supporting MSMEs and strengthening the digital economy.

The campaign features #JomLokal grocers such as Hero Market and Kedai FGV, alongside LIVE promotions hosted by creators.

Shoppers can enjoy up to 30% off vouchers, with additional savings available when paying via TikTok Pay for essentials such as rice, sugar, and flour.

Plus, Pesta #JomLokal expands digital support for local businesses

The event brought together local entrepreneurs, creators, shoppers, and government partners through digital upskilling, matchmaking sessions, knowledge sharing, and marketing support. It is aligned with KPDN's Jom Beli Produk Malaysia initiative to strengthen domestic trade and homegrown brands.

Zalina Zulkapli, Founder of Umooda, said the support allows brands to pass more value to customers.

"As a Malaysian brand, our focus is always on keeping everyday essentials affordable for families while taking care of our team. By lowering seller fees, we are better positioned to pass greater value directly to consumers and protect our employees' livelihoods," she said.
