Nestled among the trees in Janda Baik, about 500m above sea level, is this cosy tree house that has been built out of recycled materials. It's quite off-the-grid — perfect for those who desperately need to switch off – and they practise a bring your own (BYO) concept like pillows, insect repellent, food, and anything else to make your stay comfy.

2. Green Acres @ Penang

This 16-acre orchard in Balik Pulau, Penang is home to over 500 durian trees of 35 different varieties, as well as other fruit trees. 

There are two types of lodgings for guests on the orchard: a double-storey tree house fitted around an 80-year-old durian tree and an ecolodge farm stay retreat with a pool.

3. Terra Tree House @ Pahang

Terra Tree House is giving us true Tarzan vibes. Tucked away in Cameron Highlands, this retreat offers two different types of tree houses with seven units. There's a traditional bamboo tree house with a bathroom just outside and a newly constructed wooden house with an attached bathroom and bathtub.  

There's also a main activity hall where meals are provided or you can cook if you prefer. If you're up for a bit of an adventure, head to the 30-minute hiking trail nearby which leads to a waterfall or visit the lodging's own farm where all of the ingredients for meals are sourced.

4. Sekeping Serendah @ Selangor

Sekeping Serendah's retreats need no introduction to Malaysians, with transparent and open shed options for a cosy escape into nature. 7. Permai Rainforest Resort @ Sarawak
