U Mobile has announced that its ULTRA5G network has reached 90% 5G Coverage of Populated Areas (CoPA) nationwide, nine months ahead of schedule

The milestone was announced in Kuala Lumpur on 6 October at an event officiated by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.
According to U Mobile, the achievement comes after it surpassed 80% CoPA in March 2026, less than nine months after its nationwide rollout began.
The telco originally committed to reaching 80% CoPA within the first 12 months of deployment, followed by 90% CoPA by July 2027

With both targets achieved ahead of schedule, U Mobile said it had fulfilled the nationwide coverage commitments supporting Malaysia's Dual 5G Network Model.
"Achieving 90% nationwide 5G coverage more than nine months ahead of schedule reflects the determination of the entire U Mobile team and the strong collaboration of our government, regulatory, technology, and infrastructure partners," said U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck.
He added that the milestone reflected the telco's efforts in bringing digital connectivity closer to more Malaysians.
U Mobile hopes that its wider network can provide a stronger foundation for how people learn, work, communicate, and access opportunities, while it continues to improve the overall ULTRA5G experience.
Ookla recently named U Mobile as Malaysia's Best Mobile Network and Fastest 5G Network, while Opensignal recognised improvements in areas including reliability, network quality, speed, and 5G experience

Earlier this year, U Mobile was also recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for having the Fastest 5G Network Rollout in Malaysia after reaching more than 80% CoPA in less than nine months.
U Mobile also said it has now surpassed 250 in-building coverage (IBC) sites nationwide, having already fulfilled its first-year commitment for in-building 5G coverage.
Moving forward, the telco said it will continue expanding ULTRA5G coverage and improving indoor connectivity, while working on initiatives involving 5G-Advanced and AI-enabled solutions to support Malaysia's digital transformation.
