The Klang Valley lines
In the Klang Valley, the network runs through major hubs like KL Sentral, Putra, Bank Negara, and the historic Kuala Lumpur old station . There are two main routes you should know:
- Batu Caves – Tampin/Pulau Sebang: This line takes you south towards Seremban and Rembau.
- Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang: This line connects the northern parts of Selangor all the way to the port area .
Travelling up north
If you're in the northern states, the Komuter Utara service (which started in 2015) is super convenient for getting around Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak . You can travel between Butterworth and Padang Besar, or head south from Bukit Mertajam towards Ipoh . Just a heads-up: if you need to switch between these two northern routes, you'll have to change trains at Bukit Mertajam station .
A quick look back
KTM Komuter has been around since 1995, starting as a way to help people in the Klang Valley get around more easily . Since then, it has grown significantly, including the big electrification project in 2015 that brought commuter trains to the northern states .
Whether you're heading to the office or planning a weekend getaway, it's always a good idea to check the latest schedules before you leave to make sure your trip goes smoothly .
