How the Home Ministry Coordinates Security Across Land and Sea

As the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail is the man in charge of keeping Malaysia safe. His main job is to oversee our national security and ensure that the country remains peaceful for everyone .

Teamwork makes the dream work

Saifuddin believes that keeping the country safe is a team effort. He stresses that all the agencies under his ministry must work together to be effective.

For him, success isn't just about how many arrests are made or how much contraband is seized. He believes that the true measure of success is the integrity and honesty of the officers on the ground .

Recently, his ministry has been busy breaking up criminal networks, including a major cannabis smuggling syndicate and stepping up border patrols by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency .

His political journey

Saifuddin has been leading the Home Ministry since 2 December 2022 . He is a prominent member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and a key figure in the Pakatan Harapan coalition . On top of his cabinet duties, he has also been serving as the Pakatan Harapan Chairman for Kedah since February 2025 .

Serving in the Senate

Saifuddin was appointed as a Senator by the King, with his current term running from 3 December 2025 to 2 December 2028 . This role allows him to continue his work in the government, where he remains focused on protecting our borders and keeping our land and sea entry points secure .
