It looks like things are getting complicated for badminton star Lee Zii Jia, and not on the court. The athlete has officially taken his own family members to court over a dispute involving his management firm, LZJ Management Sdn Bhd .
Taking the matter to court
On 2 July 2026, Zii Jia filed a lawsuit at the Kuala Lumpur High Court against his father, Lee Chee Hin, his sister, Lee Zii Yii, and his younger brother, Lee Tao .
Zii Jia, who says he owns 90% of the company, is asking the court to step in. He wants an injunction to stop his father and sister from giving themselves extra financial perks—like bonuses or allowances—without the court's permission .
Why is this happening?
The badminton star is also asking the court to force an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to fix ongoing management issues .
He previously tried to hold a meeting on 22 December 2025, but it failed because not enough people showed up . Until the dispute is settled, Zii Jia wants to prevent his family from making big decisions, such as selling company assets or appointing new directors .
The family's side of the story
Zii Jia's family is fighting back against these claims. In an affidavit filed on 6 August, his father, Lee Chee Hin, argued that the court doesn't need to get involved. He claims the company is running just fine, pointing to a four-year deal with sports brand Victor that lasts until the end of 2028 .
The court is set to hear the application on 25 November 2026 .
