While many Malaysians still associate MySejahtera with COVID-19 check-ins, the application has quietly evolved into a broader health management tool, with the government recently opening a new tender to further expand its digital capabilities .
Tracking infectious diseases in your area
The app currently features an infectious disease tracker that allows users to monitor real-time data on various illnesses within their vicinity. This includes tracking cases of dengue, rabies, COVID-19, hand, foot and mouth disease, tuberculosis, and measles .
Managing clinical appointments
Beyond tracking, the app serves as a portal for booking appointments at Ministry of Health (MOH) clinics and dental facilities. Users can schedule visits for outpatient treatment, health screenings, family planning, and quit-smoking services. While the MOH has clarified that walk-ins are still accepted, the app remains a primary tool for those looking to secure a slot in advance .
Storing personal health records
MySejahtera acts as a digital repository for various personal health documents. Users can currently store their organ donation pledges, blood donor cards, and records of vaccinations. The government's latest maintenance tender aims to build upon this by developing new modules for comprehensive health records, including lab test results, care plans, and even dental health history .
Future upgrades in the pipeline
The Digital Ministry is looking to significantly enhance the app's functionality over the next three years. Proposed updates include a "Personal Health Tracker" for monitoring vitals and health trends, as well as a "Virtual Care" module to facilitate online consultations. These ambitious plans aim to transition the platform into a more robust digital health ecosystem for all Malaysians .
