On 9 October 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled the fifth MADANI Budget. With a total allocation of RM510 billion, the government's goal is to help ease the cost of living while keeping the economy growing .

Here is a breakdown of what this means for your wallet:

More money in your pocket

Good news for taxpayers! The personal income tax relief limit is finally getting a boost, moving from RM9,000 to RM12,000 . On top of that, income tax rates for residents are being cut by one percentage point across several brackets. This could mean an extra RM1,600 in disposable income for about five million taxpayers .

Higher wages and social security

Starting June 2027, the minimum wage will increase from RM1,700 to RM2,000. However, small businesses (MSMEs) with annual sales under RM50 million will be exempt from this change .

To help young Malaysians plan for the future, every citizen will now be automatically registered as an EPF member as soon as they turn 18, making it easier to start saving for retirement early .

Support for homeowners and families

If you are looking to buy your first home, there is some relief coming your way. You can enjoy a full stamp duty exemption for properties priced up to RM500,000. If the home is priced between RM500,000 and RM750,000, you will get a 50% exemption for agreements signed between 2027 and 2030 .

Pet owners, take note: lifestyle tax reliefs have been expanded! You can now claim relief for pet vaccination and adoption fees .

Targeted aid for businesses and farmers

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will get a helping hand through lower tax rates and better access to financing to keep their businesses running smoothly .

The agricultural sector is also getting support, with paddy farmers set to receive about RM4,300 per hectare. Additionally, there is more price support for rubber smallholders to help them cope with rising costs .
