Under the leadership of Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sarawak is on a mission to become a modern, high-income state. The Premier believes that this rapid growth is only possible because of the unity of the people .

The Roadmap: PCDS 2030

The state is currently following a master plan called the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030). This plan focuses on growing the economy, building better infrastructure, and investing in people . The goal is to turn Sarawak into a developed economy by 2030, with a heavy focus on digital technology and green energy .

Free Education For Sarawakians

A huge part of this vision is investing in the next generation. In December 2023, the Premier announced that starting in 2026, Sarawakians will be able to study for free at state-owned universities. The Premier believes that providing quality education is the best way to help people escape poverty and keep the state's economy moving forward .

Better Infrastructure And Connectivity

Sarawak is also busy upgrading its facilities. For example, the dredging project at Miri Port is set to be finished by 2026 .

Beyond ports, the state is working on a massive water grid and bringing electricity to rural areas. They are also moving away from old diesel generators and switching to renewable energy to make sure the power supply is sustainable for the long run .

Going Green And High-Tech

Sarawak is positioning itself as a leader in the green economy by investing in hydrogen, solar energy, and carbon storage .

The state is also looking toward the stars—literally. By 2030, the administration plans to launch its own nano-satellite. They intend to use artificial intelligence to help make better decisions and improve how the state is governed .
