Why You Must Complete the Digital Module Within 16 Days

Malaysians can now access over 16,000 professional courses and certifications for free through the government's newly launched Rakyat Digital portal . This initiative aims to boost digital literacy and help citizens gain industry-relevant skills from global institutions like Google, IBM, and Yale .

What the Global Learning Pass offers

The programme provides eligible Malaysians with three months of complimentary access to Coursera's vast library . With a standard subscription costing around RM240 per month, this government-funded pass represents a significant value of roughly RM720 per participant . The pass is open to all citizens aged 18 and above, regardless of their employment or student status .

How to secure your spot

The initiative is being rolled out in cohorts of 25,000 participants every three months, with the first group starting on 16 September 2026 . To apply, you must register on the Rakyat Digital portal using your MyDigital ID . Once accepted, ensure your Coursera account uses the same email address linked to your Rakyat Digital profile to keep your progress synced .

The 16-day rule you need to know

There is a catch: you must complete a compulsory two-hour "Understanding Digital Transformation" module within 16 days of receiving your invitation . Failing to do so will result in the immediate revocation of your licence, and you will be permanently barred from reapplying for the programme .

Choosing the right courses

With only three months of access, it is vital to pick courses that fit your timeline . While some professional certificates are scheduled for six months, you can succeed by planning your study hours carefully or opting for shorter specialisations . Remember to download all your certificates before your three-month window expires, as access will end once the licence period concludes .
