Finding a decent meal for RM2 is nearly impossible these days, but one vegetarian shop in Kuala Lumpur has managed to keep its prices low

The well-known restaurant called V Fortune Land Vegetarian Cafe in Taman Kok Lian has been getting a lot of attention for their incredibly affordable chap fan (economy rice).

With over 20 dishes to choose from, the restaurant sells mixed rice meals for as low as RM2!

You can get three dishes with rice for just RM2, with each additional dish costing 50 sen

They also offer noodle dishes for RM2.50, real dragon fruit juice for RM2 a cup, and tong sui for RM2.50 a bowl.

Customers are encouraged to bring their own takeaway boxes when packing food.

V Fortune Land seems to be doing this as a way to support the community and offer a budget-friendly option

According to The Star, the restaurant has been run by 64-year-old Richard So and his relatives, and they have maintained the low prices for the past 16 years.

From serving 100 customers a day, the restaurant has grown to attract nearly 1,000 customers daily.

So personally buys all the ingredients at the market and mentioned that some vendors offer him discounts, or he selects seasonal vegetables to keep costs low.

He also runs 70 shoe stores around Malaysia, which initially supported the chap fan business with RM5,000 to RM6,000 monthly.

Keeping the restaurant running while maintaining low prices is no easy feat.

According to The Star, his monthly expenses amount to RM70,000. Last month, they made RM80,000. Any leftover money is used to pay the salaries of his five workers.

If you have the means, you can also donate to the business, which provides free meals to the needy community

Every day, he donates free meal boxes to those in need, and each person is allowed to take up to two boxes until they run out.
