This Cosy Kushiyaki Joint In Section 17 Serves Up Affordable Japanese Skewers & Drinks
Grilled meat and a cold beer. Mmm.
Situated on the second floor of a shoplot in Section 17 is an unassuming new restaurant serving Japanese charcoal grilled skewers
Ossu! Kushiyaki, Japanese for 'yo! what's up?' — a testimony to its friendliness, is the perfect place for a weekday meal with family or a pick-me-up after work with friends.
The restaurant, styled like a cosy izakaya, features partitions to help break apart sections, creating a clean sense of space for diners
Besides the welcoming atmosphere, Ossu! serves up an extensive menu of skewers at absolutely affordable prices
Its founder, Tey Wee Han, built the place and brand believing in serving affordable yakitori for all.
Starting from RM3.90, be ready to try a whole variety of grilled meat and side dishes. Everything was served fresh, from their pork belly, grilled whole squid, gyozas, garlic fried rice, and more.
Also, definitely do not shy away from the impressive variety of offcuts and innards they offer, including chicken skin, gizzards, cartilage, tail meat, liver, and heart!
If you do not know where to begin, their appetisers such as the Avocado & Salmon Ponzu, Salmon Yukke Kodawari Egg, and various fried tidbits are great ways to start the grill-heavy meal.
If you are more adventurous, Ossu! also serves the rare Japanese delicacy, chochin — unfertilised egg yolks — with juicy chicken thighs
However, if that's not to your preference, their Chicken Tsukune and Pork Tsukune — chicken and pork meatball skewers — are also full of flavour and served with pasteurised egg yolks for the extra creamy taste.
Needless to say, all the small plates and skewers go well with their in-house cocktails and drinks. Ossu! serves a good selection of premium Japanese sake and the usual crowd favourite, Suntory highballs.
