1-Month-Old Baby Survives Road Accident After Being Thrown From Car While On Mum’s Lap

A 1-month-old baby boy suffered injuries to the head after surviving a car crash in Melaka on Monday, 1 June

According to Bernama, Acting Melaka Tengah district police chief Supt Halim Abas said the incident happened when a Proton Saga carrying the baby and his parents was exiting a petrol station onto the Lebuh Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin (AMJ) before colliding with another vehicle.

"As a result of the collision, the baby, who was in his mother's lap in the rear passenger seat, was thrown from the car onto a nearby grass verge,"said Halim.

The baby and mother were taken to Melaka Hospital for treatment and were later discharged after doctors confirmed they were in stable condition

According to Halim, the baby suffered swelling to the head, while the mother complained of back pain.

The case is currently being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for inconsiderate driving.

If convicted, the suspect may face up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to RM10,000.

The police have identified the other vehicle involved and investigations are ongoing.
