1 Utama Is Officially Reopening On 17 October
It reassured that all its tenants and staff have been cleared for duty.
1 Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, Selangor, is officially reopening from Saturday, 17 October, after a week of being closed
In a statement earlier today, 16 October, 1 Utama said that the reopening of the shopping complex has been "endorsed and supported" by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
"Our mall remains open during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from 17 – 27 October 2020 with opening hours of 10am to 10pm daily," it said.
Some tenants, however, will "operate under flexible business hours from 11am to 8pm daily".
On 11 October, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said that 1 Utama will close for a week after the premises recorded several COVID-19 cases.
As of Thursday, 15 October, Utama Cluster, named after the 1 Utama Shopping Centre, is the largest contributor to the number of new COVID-19 cases in Selangor.
Out of the total of 150 new cases reported in Selangor yesterday, 105 were from the Utama cluster. The cluster has recorded a total of 132 cases since it was first identified on Saturday, 10 October.
It reassured that all its tenants and staff have been cleared for duty
"We would like to reassure you that all tenant and mall management staff including our auxiliary police and security forces have been tested and cleared for duty," the shopping complex said in the statement.
"Combined with massive sanitisation efforts in strict accordance to MOH standard operating procedures (SOPs), 1 Utama will continue to provide a safe shopping experience with round-the-clock cleaning using hospital-grade disinfectants and purifying air via high-efficiency filters and powerful UV lights."
It reminded shoppers that face masks and temperature screenings are mandatory.
