1 Utama shopping complex in Bandar Utama, Selangor will be closed for a week starting Monday, 12 October instead of Sunday, 11 October

The clarification about the date came from Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during a press conference that was livestreamed via the National Security Council's Facebook page today, 10 October.

He said that 1 Utama Shopping Centre will be closed for a week starting 12 October after the premises recorded several COVID-19 cases. As of today, the mall has recorded four cases.

"On the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the meeting today has decided to temporarily close the shopping complex for a week starting 12 October," he said during the press conference.

"This will enable the ministry to conduct screening involving some 800 employees at the premises, as well as for the local authorities to conduct disinfection exercises at the shopping complex."

Meanwhile, he also said that the workers' dormitories at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort in Petaling Jaya will be placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) starting 12 October

According to Ismail Sabri, the EMCO will be enforced for 14 days starting 12.01am on 12 October until 24 October and will affect some 500 employees of Tropicana Corporation.

He, however, stated that the restrictions will not affect the resort clubhouse and residences.

Prior to Ismail Sabri's announcement, the management of 1 Utama Shopping Centre had said that the mall will be closed from 11 October

The management's statement came after the Petaling District and Land Office issued a closure ordered today.
