1 Utama Issues Public Advisory About The Temporary Closure For COVID-19 Contact Tracing
This comes after four COVID-19 cases were reported at the shopping mall.
The management of 1 Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, Selangor, has now issued a public advisory about its temporary closure
The mall's temporary closure, that will start from Sunday, 11 October, is based on the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH) so that MOH officials can carry out a detailed CVOID-19 contact tracing exercise.
This comes after four COVID-19 cases were reported in 1 Utama.
The management said that it is "saddened that we were unable to prevent the rapid spike" of COVID-19 effects "despite the best care" to keep the virus away since January this year.
Facilities have been set up for all 1 Utama staff and tenant staff to undergo tests, according to the advisory that was issued after the Petaling District and Land Office ordered the closure earlier today
The management noted that it was efficient to close and sanitise the mall in order to cover all bases.
"We remain steadfast in our safety efforts and the mall will reopen once test results are received," the advisory stated without providing any details about the reopening date.
"Information will be updated on our mall's social media pages," the management said.
However, a Media Prime journalist, Mohd Redzuan Abdul Manap, has since revealed that 1 Utama will be closed for seven days.
According to the management, MOH has confirmed that the four cases in 1 Utama were not connected and were not spread by one source
The infected persons also showed no symptoms during their workdays at the tenant outlets.
The management urged members of the public who have visited these 1 Utama outlets between 25 September to 7 October to come forward and undergo the COVID-19 test:
- Parkson Elite's ground floor cosmetics and fragrance department between 30 September to 7 October,
- Mac City Service Centre on the second floor between 25 September to 30 September.
