10-Month-Old Baby Dies After "Falling" Twice From His Swing At Babysitter's House

Police are investigating to determine if the baby was abused by the babysitter.

Naufal Amsyar, a 10-month-old baby boy, has died while he was being treated at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar

Naufal's father Nabil Fikri Anwar said that his only child has died.

"Assalamualaikum. Please recite Al-Fatihah for my son Naufal Amsyar Bin Nabil Fikri who has passed away at 9 this morning," Nabil told NST Online via WhatsApp.

The boy's 28-year-old father works as an enforcement assistant and the mother, who is 22 years old, is an assistant at a dental clinic.

The baby boy, who was being looked after by a 35-year-old female babysitter in Tangkak, was hospitalised after he suffered a "seizure"

On Tuesday, the babysitter had sent the boy to the Tangkak Hospital after he suffered a seizure, according to a report in NST Online. Following which, the child was referred to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar.

At the hospital, doctors found multiple injuries on the 10-month-old baby.

"The boy had bruises on the left side of his forehead, bleeding in the eye and cracked skull," Tangkak district police chief Supt Mohd Idris Samsuri said.

NST Online reported that there were old and new bruises on the baby's left forehead.

The babysitter was arrested on Thursday under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001. She is on four days remand till Sunday, 22 July.

According to the victim's parents, the babysitter had claimed that the 10-month-old boy had fallen from his swing twice while under her care.

Police are investigating to determine if the baby was abused by the babysitter.
