A 13-year-old schoolgirl in Penang was allegedly gang raped by three men, aged 20 to 25, on the night of 10 November, Sunday

Barat Daya district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the girl had followed the first suspect, Syawal, whom she had befriended in April, out for a ride around Relau at about 12.30am.

After the ride, at around 2am, Syawal took the girl to a house at Jalan Sungai Ara 3 in Bayan Lepas, where he allegedly raped her in one of the rooms, Sazalee told the media in a statement.

Subsequently, a second man entered the room and allegedly molested and raped her.

"After that, the third suspect pulled the victim into another room to molest and rape her," he said.

The victim was then told to return to the first room, where she was raped again.

The three men then took the girl to watch motorcycle racing in Bayan Baru at 3am before taking her back to the same house at about 4am

Police say all three suspects then took turns to rape her again before sending her home at about 5am.

Sazalee said while the underage victim knew the first suspect, she did not know the others.

The victim will be sent to Penang Hospital for a medical examination.

All three suspects have been detained.

The police have also arrested a fourth suspect, but his connection with the case is not yet clear.

The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang rape.
