A teenager has been charged with murdering his mother after she was found with a kitchen knife sticking out of her eye socket in her Florida home

William Brandon Aydelott was arrested on Tuesday night and charged with premediated murder for the death of his mother, Sharon Aydelott, who was a teacher at Holley-Navarre Middle School.

Sharon Aydelott was found dead on Christmas Eve in her home in Gulf Breeze, Fla., having been stabbed multiple times, beaten with a baseball bat and had her throat slashed, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News.

William Brandon Aydelott, the victim’s 17-year-old son, was found at a nearby house three hours later, the NWF Daily News reports. His clothing was clean, but police found a spot of dried blood on his wrist.

The investigator wrote that the 17-year-old was "Calm, appeared to be emotionless, other than giving a small smile a few times during the interview."

A witness previously told investigators Brandon and his mom had been fighting for a couple of months, saying Brandon had moved out of his mother's home

SRSO investigators say they determined the suspect had been arguing with the victim for a while. Reports say the suspect stabbed the victim several times with and struck her with a baseball bat.

The victim succumbed to the wounds on scene. Her body was found by responding firefighters with the Midway Fire Department with a large kitchen knife still stuck in one of her eyes.

Investigators report the victim died inside her home, near the front door. Blood was found around her body, furniture, and smeared on the front door. Reports say her hands suffered defensive wounds and she had a large cut on her neck.

"It just shows the state of our times I guess," a neighbor, Loree Rhodes, told Fox. "There's just so much violence and that's sad too."

“It’s just heartbreaking for the family. You just wonder what’s in a young person’s mind to do something like that,” Loree Rhodes, a neighbor, told Fox 10 TV.
