17-Year-Old Malaysian Teen Dies After Fighting Over Fried Chicken
He was found dead after failing to show up for Friday prayers.
A 17-year-old teen had died in a rehabilitation center in Kedah after getting into an altercation with other inmates
The unfortunate incident happened on Friday, 18 November at a rehabilitation centre in Pokok Sena, Kedah.
According to The Star, the victim Mohamad Shukri Kassim, from Langkawi, was found dead by the warden after he did not show up for morning prayers on the next day.
Police investigations have shown that the victim had fought with a group of inmates over fried chicken on the previous night
Kota Bahru police chief Mohd Rozi Jidin the victim was sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) for post-mortem. Results revealed that the injuries were caused by physical assault.
"Police had thought that it was a case of sudden death but post mortem results revealed injuries believed to be caused by punches," Mohd Rozi said.
10 inmates aged between 14 to 17 years old have been detained to assist in the investigation
The victim entered the rehabilitation centre on 11 November and was under detention for a burglary case in Langkawi.
