18 Malaysians Make It Onto Forbes' 2023 World's Billionaires List
Business mogul Robert Kuok ranked the highest among the Malaysians listed.
The 2023 Forbes World's Billionaires List ranked over 2,500 billionaires from all around the world, including 18 billionaires from Malaysia
The list compiled billionaires from various industries, and categorised them based on net worth, which were calculated by including the stocks they owned and exchange rates as of 10 March.
Taking the top three rankings this year are the head of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) empire, Bernard Arnault and his family, followed by Elon Musk from Tesla and SpaceX, and Jeff Bezos from Amazon.
Malaysian entries are headed by Robert Kuok, ranking at #146 with a net worth of USD11.8 billion (approximately RM52 billion)
The 99-year old business magnate appears on a Forbes' list once again, as he was ranked number one in Forbes' Malaysia's 50 Richest list in 2022.
Second to Robert Kuok is the co-founder of Hong Leong Bank, Quek Leng Chan, at #179 with a net worth of USD10.1 billion (approximately RM45 billion), followed by Ananda Krishnan, the chairman of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, that holds a large stake in Maxis, with a net worth of USD5.2 billion (approximately RM22.9 billion), putting him at 511th place.

Four out of the 18 Malaysian billionaires listed are new entries to the ranking, and they are all siblings
Children to the late Public Bank chairman, Teh Hong Piow, are all ranked #2133. Lillyn Teh Li Hua, Lillian Teh Li Ming, William Teh Lee Pang, and Diana Teh Li Shing each have a net worth of USD1.3 billion (approximately RM5.7 billion).
The late chairman's daughters are the first Malaysian women to make it onto the list.
Brothers Lee Yeow Chor and Lee Yeow Seng of IOI group return to the list with individual rankings this time, after being ranked together at #586 in the Forbes 2022 World's Billionaires list.
Elder brother Lee Yeow Chor ranked #1,067 this year, with a net worth of USD2.8 billion (approximately RM12.3 billion), whereas Lee Yeow Seng, the youngest of the Lee brothers, ranked #1,804 with USD1.6 billion (approximately RM7 billion).
