1Million Women Purple Walk A Success Across The Nation
The 1Million Women Purple Walk was sucessfully held this morning (17/3/2013) as tens of thousands of women across 14 states gather together and walk in unity to celebrate International Women's Day. Bearing the International Women's Day theme colour, purple, the street gathering celebrated the successes of women in Malaysia. The event went smoothly as the Prime Minister not only officiated the event, but also launched a new women's community programme - Perwani.
PM launches '1 Malaysia Perwani Community programme' at the walk
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak launched the 1 Malaysia Perwani Community programme, a women community group programme to enable women to report crime and threats to national security.
themalaysianinsider.comHe aims to set up 100,000 Perwani groups throughout Malaysia comprising 10 to 20 women to be the eyes and ears of the government in fighting crime and threats to national security.
