Two suspects have escaped from the Kulim Magistrate's Court in Kedah after spotting police waiting to re-arrest them over another case
According to Bernama, Kulim district police chief Supt Syamsul Sinring said the incident occurred at around 10am yesterday, 12 August, when the two men appeared in court for a case mention linked to a report lodged in Serdang.
The accused, aged 27 and 31, were charged under Sections 324 and 353 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means and obstructing a public servant, respectively.
They were granted bail of RM4,000 and RM3,000, respectively, following the proceedings.
However, as they were leaving the court complex, the duo spotted officers from the South Seberang Perai District Police Headquarters at the entrance.
One of the suspects jumped from the first floor onto a pillar before climbing down to the ground floor and making his escape.
The other suspect re-entered the building before fleeing through a back passage.
Both suspects climbed over a fence to escape capture
Syamsul said police are currently tracking down both suspects.
The New Straits Times reported that the duo are accused in the Serdang case of allegedly hitting a victim with a padlock before snatching his mobile phone.
The victim sustained injuries to his nose and back.
A 23-second video of the escape went viral yesterday, showing one of the suspects fleeing and climbing over a fence.
Security guards and police officers could be seen chasing after the man but failed to stop him.
