2-Year-Old Girl Found Dead At Her Caretaker's Home In Penang

She drowned in a basin that was filled with water.

On Tuesday, 2 March, a two-year-old girl was found unconscious in a water basin at her caretaker's house in Batu Maung, Penang

The victim lost consciousness after she drowned in the basin, which was filled with water. The Penang General Hospital pronounced the victim, Sophia Fatehah Wan Farhan Danial, dead today, 3 March.

The caretaker had been taking care of the victim for a long time

According to the victim's grandmother, the family is in shock over the incident.

"My granddaughter has been under the care of the caretaker for a long time," she said, adding that she was in Taiping when she was informed of the incident after receiving a call from her son.

The victim's parents work in a factory in Bayan Lepas

She was the youngest of two children.

Southwest district police chief Supt AA Anbalagan confirmed the incident. However, no further comment was provided at the time of writing this story.
