20-Year-Old Hiker Dies After Falling Into An 80-Metre Deep Ravine At Bukit Banang
The victim, Aina Nabila Yusof, slipped while climbing.
A woman died after she fell into an 80-metre deep ravine at Bukit Banang, Batu Pahat, Johor on Saturday morning, 14 November
The 20-year-old was hiking on Bukit Banang with several others when the incident occurred.
She slipped while climbing. The hiker has been identified as Aina Nabila Yusof.
A distress call about the incident was made at 11.34am. Following which, Aina Nabila's body was pulled out from the ravine at 3.46pm.
The victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer on location.
According to Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Station operations commander senior assistant fire Superintendent Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nor, they received the distress call from one of the hikers.
16 personnel from the Penggaram and Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue stations were rushed to the scene with One Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and two Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicles.
Her body has been handed over to the police for further action
Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong took to his Facebook page last night to extended his condolences to the family of Aina Nabila.
"Aina is the daughter of Cikgu Yusof and Cikgu Rosnah who have been so close to me and helped me a lot in Yong Peng since becoming the Member of Parliament for Ayer Hitam in 2004," he wrote.
"Condolences to Cikgu Yusof and Cikgu Rosnah's family."
