24-Year-Old Man Drowns After Being Pulled Into Water Tank

The victim was reportedly a maintenance worker.

A 24-year-old maintenance worker drowned after he was believed to have been pulled into a water tank in Bandar Saujana Perdana, Selangor, on Tuesday, 16 June

According to the New Straits Times, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre chief Hamdan Hamzah said the victim was found unconscious on top of the tower reservoir tank when authorities arrived.

He said firefighters arrived at the scene within half an hour of receiving a distress call at 11.51am.

"Based on preliminary information, the victim was believed to have been pulled into the water tank and drowned while carrying out maintenance work at the tower reservoir tank," said Hamdan.

Firefighters lifted the victim out of the water tank before health officers confirmed his death at the scene

China Press reported that the victim was believed to be an intern at a company, who had been assigned to carry out maintenance work as part of his duties. However, the matter has yet to be confirmed by the authorities.

His body was handed over to the police for further action.
