A man recently lost his life after crashing into the concrete divider at the Setia Alam Toll
Selangor traffic police chief Supt Azman Shari'at told Harian Metro that the incident took place around 3pm yesterday, 8 June.
The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old man who was driving from Setia Alam headed towards Shah Alam.
Initial investigations found that the man lost control of the Honda City he was driving and crashed into the divider at the SmartTAG lane
Images of the accident scene went viral on social media.
Azman explained to Berita Harian, "As a result of the collision, the victim was stuck in the driver's seat before being extricated by firefighters."
Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said that the team took 15 to 20 minutes to extricate the victim.
"A team of officers from the Kota Anggerik Fire and Rescue station carried out the operation using special tools such as a hydraulic cutter and spreader," he added.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a team of paramedics from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang
The body was then taken to Shah Alam Hospital for an autopsy after COVID-19 test results were obtained.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
