The government has announced a 50% toll discount for two days in conjunction with Deepavali, which falls on Sunday, 8 November
According to the New Straits Times, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the discount will take effect from midnight on Friday, 6 November, until 11.59pm on Saturday, 7 November.
The initiative will cover Class 1 private vehicles at all toll plazas nationwide, as well as Class 2 vehicles using the Penang Bridge.

However, motorists travelling through the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) toll plaza on the North-South Expressway and the Tanjung Kupang toll plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link will not be eligible for the discount
In a statement, Nanta said the initiative is part of the government's efforts to ease the financial burden on Malaysians travelling to their hometowns or visiting family members during the festive period.
He added that the government has allocated an estimated RM20.11 million to compensate participating highway concessionaires for the discounts, subject to traffic data verification.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and ensure their Touch 'n Go cards or eWallets have sufficient balance before hitting the road
They should also observe speed limits, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and get enough rest to avoid driver fatigue.
For a smoother journey, motorists can check the latest traffic updates and highway incidents through the Malaysian Highway Authority's official channels.
