66-Year-Old Selangor Man Kills Himself Following A Fatal Accident Involving His Mercedes

The man used a sharp object to slit his own throat.

In an incident that happened early morning today, 7 September, a man from Selangor killed himself after his Mercedes triggered a fatal accident at Jalan Tali Air, Sawah Sempadan, Tanjong Karang

According to a report in NST Online, the 66-year-old driver of the Mercedes Benz C200 slit his throat using a sharp object in the 2.30am incident. He died shortly after.

The senior citizen had stopped his car in the middle of the road, causing a Perodua Myvi driven by a 40-year-old to crash into it

Bernama reported Kuala Selangor deputy police chief DSP Noor Janihan Nanyan saying that the 66-year-old driver had suddenly stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road, which caused the Perodua Myvi behind him to crash into its rear.

The Perodua Myvi, driven by 40-year-old Muhammad Fadzli Muhammad Yusari, was unable to avoid the stationary Mercedes Benz in time and the impact caused the Myvi to be flung into a roadside drain.

Muhammad Fadzli suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene.

The 66-year-old was believed to be suffering from mental illness

According to Bernama, the elderly man's act of slitting his own throat was witnessed by several others who were at the scene of the fatal accident.

Witnesses at the scene also said that the Mercedes driver had shown signs of confusion before he took his own life, NST Online reported.

Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Supt Noor Janihan Nanyan said that an investigation is being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987

“The remains of both men were taken to the Tanjong Karang Hospital for post-mortems," DSP Noor Janihan was quoted as saying by NST Online.
